Zach’s gameplay began as an attempt to ride the middle of two warring alliances in the house, The Chop Shop and The Purple Cobras. He and his fellow Newport alliance member, Jordan Parhar, planned on manipulating both sides into targeting each other, leaving the two of them unharmed amidst the battle. However, his plans began to crumble during his disastrous HOH reign, where he left Jordan on the block, who was then voted out. Zach’s attempts at playing both sides was then uncovered by everyone, and he quickly became the biggest target in the house and had to rely on his Diaper Alliance for safety. His alliance protected him by winning the next two HoH's. Despite being nominated during the Triple Eviction, he was spared when PoV winner Bruno Ielo used the PoV on him. In week 8, Brittnee Blair used the Coup d'Etat to remove herself and Godfrey Mangwiza from the block, and put Zach and Bruno in their spots, and Bruno was evicted over Zach. However, when Sarah Hanlon became HoH in week 9, she nominated him and his showmance Ashleigh Wood against each other. Ashleigh won the POV, causing Zach to stay on the block. He was evicted during the first half of the Double Eviction in a unanimous 3-0 vote, and thus placing 6th. He was originally the 7th member of the jury, but became the 6th member after Jordan was evicted from the jury house by Sarah on finale night.
Zach Oleynik is a 22-year-old student from Regina, Saskatchewan. He plays on his school's football team, and thinks this could help his game in the house. He feels that he can relate to different types of people, thus will have a strong social game. Zach says he is most excited for the money at the end, as he believes he can win the series.
Zach called out Peter Brown from BBCAN season one on Twitter back in 2013.
When Zach was evicted from the house and was a guest on the Side Show, Peter forgave him for his comments as he hoped Zach now had a better understanding of what it is like to be a houseguest.
