The Southerners is an alliance in Big Brother: Over The Top.
One of the many short-lived first week alliances, The Southerners formed in an attempt to get veteran player Jason Roy evicted. The plan did not work and the alliance was quickly dismantled. With the exception of Shane, the alliance eventually became Monte & His Pythons.
Formation
During the first week, the sisters Alex and Morgan Willett along with Monte Massongill, Shane Chapman and Whitney Hogg formed an alliance after Monte won the first Head of Household competition of the season. Though not considered a member, Cornbread Ligon was considered an affiliate for a short time.
The alliance name was based on the fact that each member of the alliance was from the southern states.

History
After entering the house, the alliance quickly found a common factor and bonded over being from the southern states. After the first Head of Household competition began, the alliance decided that Monte would win and that they would target Jason Roy. The first part of their plan was successful and Monte won HOH and nominated pawn Danielle Lickey and Jason. A wrench in their plan known as America's Nominee caused their ally Cornbread to be nominated alongside Monte's nominees. To complicate things further, Jason later won the Power of Veto competition and saved himself from the block forcing Monte to nominate Kryssie Ridolfi in his place.

- Whitney Hogg is the only member of this alliance to not win any major competition.
