Former elite gymnast Sophie is landing a lifelong dream when she enters the Big Brother house and may surprise her fellow Housemates at Challenges with her athletic edge.
Born in Germany and raised in Darwin, Sophie started to train as a gymnast from a young age, moving to Canberra as a teenager and then onto Brisbane to pursue her passion. When she was 18, she made the team for the 2012 London Olympics but just two months out from the Games, her dreams were shattered when a career-ending back injury forced her to retire from elite sport.
Now studying a communications degree at university, Sophie enjoyed a cultured upbringing, travelling around the world, and currently splits her time between Australia and the Netherlands.
When it comes to living in the house, Sophie believes her ability to read people and situations will be a huge asset. Both active and creative, Sophie says she’s an open book - in fact, her inability to lie may get her in trouble, so she’s planning on keeping her cards close to her chest, including her history as an elite athlete.
Sophie is fully aware it’s a strategic game and is not afraid to woo others or use her looks to get ahead. Failing is not an option for the competitive but compassionate goal-setter.
If she wins, Sophie has no idea what she’ll do with the prize money as it’s such a huge sum to a “peasant student” like her.
