The Power Couple was one of three central twists in Big Brother 9 (US).
The Power Couple twist involved one pair of soulmates winning the power couple competition and being forced to evict one other couple within a few days of the game. Jen DiTurno and Parker Somerville won the competition, winning $10,000 as well. The two evicted Jacob Heald and Sharon Obermueller (Sharon would later return to replace Neil Garcia as Joshuah Welch's partner after he had walked from the game).
The competition would later appear in Celebrity Big Brother 2 (US), this time known as the Power Pair competition. The rules were changed as well. Instead of being forced to evict another pair, the winning team then had to face off against each other in another competition. The winner would become HoH while the loser is nominated for eviction. Ryan Lochte and Jonathan Bennett were the winning pair, with Ryan going on to become the first HoH, while Jonathan was the first nominee.
