On January 27, 2025, Pinoy Big Brother announced its new season via GMA Network's evening news program, 24 Oras. Marking Pinoy Big Brother's 20th Anniversary this year, Big Brother, via an interview with 24 Oras celebrity news correspondent Iya Villania inside the Confession Room, revealed that Pinoy Big Brother will be airing for the first time on GMA Network, ABS-CBN's former rival channel, with GMA and ABS-CBN collaborating for the upcoming season.

For the first time since producing Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2 in 2007, Big Brother announced the return of its standalone "Celebrity Edition" spin-off, which he dubbed Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition Collab.. During the GMA & ABS-CBN Contract Signing event held inside the Big Brother house, the executives formally announced its season title, "Celebrity Collab Edition"

Bianca Gonzalez and Robi Domingo reprised their roles as presenters in this season alongside other "Pamilya ni Kuya" (Big Brother's family) co-presenters Melisa Cantiveros, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, and Alexa Ilacad. On February 9, 2025, GMA Network, via its Sunday noontime show, All-Out Sundays, announced Gabbi Garcia as one of the two new GMA co-hosts.. On February 21, 2025, GMA host/actor Mavy Legaspi joined the roster of hosts, announced via noontime variety show, It's Showtime.

At the season premiere, an updated version of Celebrity Edition's theme song "Sikat ang Pinoy" was introduced, performed by ABS-CBN singer Darren Espanto and GMA singer Julie Anne San Jose. ABS-CBN's Star Music officially released the new version after the season premiere on March 9, 2025 on streaming platforms worldwide.

Casting

With the edition named "Collab", its cast would feature celebrities from both ABS-CBN and GMA's respective talent companies—ABS-CBN's own Star Magic and GMA's Sparkle. For the first time in Philippine TV history, ABS-CBN artists and GMA Artists would live together and compete against each other for the Celebrity Big Winner title.

• Celebrity Guests: On Day 1, Ivana Alawi joined the cast as a House Guest, where she had to pretend to her fellow housemates that she was a real contestant. Host Mavy Legaspi also temporarily entered the house on Day 1 as a House Guest and remained there until Day 5, as a consequence of failing the hosts' task during the season launch.
• Celebrity Collab: On Day 2, Big Brother revealed the main twist of the Collab season. Initially disguised as a fun "The House is Sinking" game, the housemates unsuspectingly grouped themselves into pairs of Star Magic and Sparkle groups. However, Big Brother announced that the pairs they unknowingly formed would take effect from then on, and the housemates must play in pairs throughout the season.
  • Duo Shuffling: Throughout the season, pairings would change until the final duos emerge.
  • Collab Big Winners: A Sparkle and Star Magic duo would become the season's Big Winner.
• Immunity Shield: On Day 9, an Immunity Shield necklace was introduced after Kapamilya (ABS-CBN) housemates succeeded in a special task. The Kapamilya Housemates then had to vote for a Kapuso (GMA) housemate to receive immunity from the first nominations.
• Late Entries: Throughout the season, several housemates entered the game after the premiere.
  • Bianca De Vera entered the house on Day 10.

Task History

1	1	On launch night, Sparkle's Ashley, Josh, AZ, Will, Charlie, Mika, and Dustin; and Star Magic's AC, Esnyr, Klarisse, Ralph, River, and Kira found themselves locked and confined separately in the pool area. To get out of confinement and unite altogether, the two groups must retrieve the two big keys hung above the swimming pool. The hosts Alexa, Gabbi, Mavy, and Melai were given a task to help the housemates by gathering all the bamboo sticks scattered and hidden inside the house, while the housemates must use the bamboo sticks and create a pole long enough to retrieve the key from above.
		As an added challenge, the hosts must be able to retrieve keys using the poles within 15 minutes, if they failed to get the keys in 15 minutes, one of the hosts had to be left behind and remained inside the house as a house guest indefinitely.
	1-7	On Day 1, Ivana was given a secret task to convince her fellow housemates that she was a real contestant, and not a House Guest. She was also tasked to give gifts to three other housemates.
	3-6	The housemates and houseguests (by Duos) must use two giant batteries to continually light a 'big star' by placing them in correct contact points placed throughout the frame in front of the said star. The housemates and houseguests must only make eight mistakes or less in the said task. Once a Duo (a member or both) makes a mistake, they will no longer be allowed to participate in the Weekly Task.
	3	On Day 3, Big Brother informed Kira that her duo Josh would celebrate his birthday on the following day. To celebrate Josh's birthday pool party, Big Brother assigned Kira to spend her time on the Twinkle Twinkle Big Star weekly task as long as she can it will be converted to equivalent time of the pool party.
2	8	On Day 8, The Rule Book violators must walk around the swimming pool while saying "I will never break Big Brother's rules", walking five laps for each violator. Then, each violator must wear a pen cap that resembles a human marker, then write the same phrase on the whiteboard while the fellow violators carry the human marker. The last writing, however, was tasked to be done in cursive. The violations will be cleared if the writings are legible.
	9	On Day 9, the Star Magic housemates were required to transfer a ball using a hole maze from Point A to Point B. If a ball falls, they must return to the starting point. If they win the task, the reward will be given to a Sparkle housemate. Unbeknownst to the Star Magic housemates, the reward contains a nomination immunity medal, which would be given to a Sparkle housemate for the first nomination round.
	11-	The housemates must create and produce a short film content which features Esnyr's nine characters, each in different scenes and locations. To win the task, the housemates must create a smooth one-shot video without cuts and edit with a timeframe between 18 minutes and 18 minutes and 59 seconds.

• Celebrity Collab Edition is the first Celebrity Edition of Pinoy Big Brother with an edition name, as opposed to Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 1 and Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2.
• While Celebrity Collab Edition is the third standalone season of the Celebrity Edition spin-off, this is the sixth overall edition to feature celebrity housemates, the others being part of the multi-batch editions of Pinoy Big Brother: All In, Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7, and Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10.
• This is the first Pinoy Big Brother season to air on GMA Network.
  • Historically, from 2008 to 2011, Pinoy Big Brother was considered as the rival show of GMA-produced Survivor Philippines, the Philippine adaptation of the hit reality series Survivor.
• This is the first season to cast celebrities from GMA-produced programs. Before this season, Pinoy Big Brother only cast ABS-CBN-signed and non-exclusive freelance celebrities.
