Paula von Sperling

Paula von Sperling Viana^[2] was the winner of Big Brother Brazil 19.

A controversial figure in Big Brother Brazil's history, Paula captivated the public early on and proved to be a fierce competitor despite initially appearing to be nothing more than a country belle, managing to win an endurance challenge and earn immunity for the Super Eviction on Week One. She then formed a season-long bond with Hariany Almeida and Carolina Peixinho, and remained relatively safe through most of the game, having fallen in the good graces of the public due to her spontaneous and comical personality, and due to her multiple HOH wins, all of which were won in endurance competitions. However, Paula's journey is mostly remembered for her many controversial statements, with many of them being deemed racist and religiously intolerant.

This earned her the distaste of fellow houseguests, such as Gabriela Hebling and Rodrigo França, and a big part of the public, who remained mostly divided between interpreting her comments as outspoken and blunt, or prejudiced and hurtful. In what was a relatively lukewarm season, Paula's strong and outspoken personality was enough to award her the win in spite of her multiple controversial comments, which went mostly unaired; she was awarded the win with 61.09% of the votes over fellow houseguest Alan Possamai, and remains to this day a controversial figure amongst the Big Brother winners.
