In Big Brother 18, Paul was initially very vocal about getting the returning players out, forming an alliance to go against them. However, after his ally, Jozea, was blindsided, he started building trust with the other HouseGuests and began working with the returning players. Victor Arroyo; another ally of Paul was evicted in week 2. He then formed an alliance with Paulie. Paul and Paulie worked together until Paul realized that it was best to evict him. Once Victor returned to the game, he and Paul created the Sitting Ducks alliance. The two friends fought together until they were both nominated Week 12. Paul managed to survive eviction while Victor was evicted. Paul was considered a very aggressive player, being unafraid to make big moves, willing to confront others, and having a hand in numerous evictions. Paul was known for being able to talk his way out of many situations and for playing a great social and strategic game. However, he received criticism for insulting other HouseGuests, making many jury members lose their respect for his gameplay.
He was a competition threat, winning 3 HoHs and 3 PoVs, thus making him the seventh male HouseGuest to win six competitions in a season. After Victor's eviction, Paul managed to win the last 2 HoHs and final PoV. After winning the final HOH, he chose to infamously evict James and take Nicole to the Final Two. However, this move was fatal as Nicole won the game by a vote of 5 to 4, thus leaving Paul as the runner-up.
His decision to evict James has been deemed a huge mistake by the viewers and some of the jurors because he could have easily won against James.
Paul later returned for Big Brother 19 and changed his gameplay completely. Instead of focusing on competitions, Paul had turned his attention to being more skilled at being manipulative. When he entered the house Week 1 after Kevin Schlehuber took the $25,000 temptation, he was given immunity and was tasked with giving others friendship bracelets, protecting them from being evicted. Paul used this chance to gain some allies and had originally wanted to work with Cody Nickson's alliance of showmances. After being nominated by Cody in an attempt to backdoor him, his Pendant of Protection saved him for three weeks, which he also used to his advantage. Paul played a very strategic and aggresive game, controlling and manipulating his allies, and being responsible for almost all the nominations and evictions. He dominated in competitons; winning 3 HoH's and 5 PoV's, tying Janelle Pierzina and Danielle Donato for winning the most PoV's in a single season. He managed not to touch the block until the final 3 where he was put on the block by default after failing to win the final HoH, which was won by his ally Josh Martinez. When Josh won the final HoH, he brought Paul to the final 2, being seen as easier to beat over Christmas Abbott, making him the second houseguest in Big Brother history after Dan Gheesling to make it to the final 2 twice. However, Paul was criticized for unnecessarily backstabbing his allies, overplaying the game, needlessly bullying the other houseguests, and not owning his game during the jury Q&A. All this cost him the win once again, as he lost to Josh by a 5-4 vote, becoming the runner-up for the second time in a row.
Along with Danielle Reyes and Dan, Paul is considered to be another victim of a bitter jury; despite what majority of viewers perceived as a stronger game than the actual winner.
Paul has won the most competitions in Big Brother history with 14 wins over his two seasons. Due to this and making final 2 twice, Paul has been seen as one of the greatest players in recent years, comparing him to Big Brother legends Derrick Levasseur and Vanessa Rousso.

Paul is the first person in Big Brother 18 to be vetoed twice in a row (Weeks 1 and 2). He won the Power of Veto and used it on himself in Week 1. In Week 2, Paulie used the Veto on him.
Paul is the second HouseGuest to be nominated every week in the first three weeks. The other HouseGuest is John McGuire from Big Brother 17.
Paul is the third HouseGuest to win the POV twice in Big Brother 18, following Paulie Calafiore and Corey Brooks (and later Nicole Franzel) respectively.
He then beat that record his second time around, as he won 8 competitions on Big Brother 19.
Every time a female won HoH in Big Brother 18, Paul was nominated.
Likewise, every time Paul was HoH, he always nominated at least one female when possible. (During his HoH reigns on Days 90 & 99, only one female was left in the house, meaning he was forced to nominate one male each time.)
Paul is the first male to lose to a female in the Final Two in the American version. From that point, every US season (BBOTT and Celebrity seasons included) with a male-female final two after that has ended with the male losing against the female, up until Big Brother 21 (US).
Paul holds the record for the most votes to win for a runner-up with four (twice).
If Paul had voted to evict Nicole instead of James, he would've received votes from every jury member except Natalie and Michelle.
If the Jury would have been the original seven person Jury in either of his seasons (thus removing Da'Vonne, Zakiyah, Cody, and Elena from their respective Juries) and the same votes took place, Paul would have won both Big Brother 18 and Big Brother 19 over Nicole and Josh in a 4–3 vote each.
Paul is the first HouseGuest to participate in a Battle Back Competition without having been evicted before playing, as he was chosen to be the House Challenger, and if he had won, that would have prevented the Battle Back Champion from re-entering.
Ironically, his biggest ally won the Battle Back on his first season, while his biggest threat won it on his second.
Paul is the first HouseGuest in Big Brother 19 to win HoH and PoV in the same week.
He is also the first HouseGuest to win HoH & the PoV twice in that season.
Paul was the last HouseGuest to have be put on the block during BB19, getting nominated by default for losing the Final HoH in Week 12, however he was nominated during Week 1, but technically was never on the block because of the Pendant of Protection.
Paul is the first HouseGuest in the history of the show to win five competitions across two seasons.
Due to making it to Week 10 on Big Brother 19, Paul has been in the Big Brother US house longer than anyone else, at 178 days. Then, by making it to finale night, he had finalized his time at 191 days.
Following Alex, Paul is the second person to win HOH on Big Brother 19 three times.
Paul is the third HouseGuest to play Big Brother twice and not be evicted, following Dick Donato and Dan Gheesling. However, because Dick walked during Week 1 of Season 13 for personal reasons, Dan and Paul are currently the only Returning HouseGuests who have lasted throughout the entire game without being evicted.
Paul is the second houseguest after Dan to exit the house on finale night twice.
Paul is one of four people (Janelle Pierzina, Kaysar Ridha, and James Rhine) to receive the same placement two seasons in a row (2nd place).
