Starting off the game strong and being crowned the first HOH of the season, Monte made a big move in targeting veteran player Jason Roy. However, due to America's Nominee twist his alliance member Cornbread Ligon was evicted instead. Despite his ally Alex Willett winning the following HOH, Monte was nominated by America during Week 2. After losing the veto, his allies tried to save him but were unsuccessful and he was evicted in a 5-4-0 vote.
