Manuel Mateo Bortuzzo was a housemate on Grande Fratello VIP 6.
Manuel made history as the first ever Grande Fratello contestant to be in a wheelchair, which he started using 3 years prior to his entry in the House after he was shot and almost lost his life. His purpose in the game was to show how disabled people can be independent and live as "normally" as they can, even with all the hardships. His impactful life story made him an instant favorite, both inside and outside the House: for the first half of the season, Manuel was always among the contestants made immune by the other housemates and he only had to face the public vote once throughout his whole journey in the game.
Manuel mostly stayed out of the main conflicts of the House, focusing instead on cultivating his relationships: the friendship with Olympian Aldo Montano, with the two of them bonding over the love for sports and Manuel's desire to compete in the Paralympic Games, and the romantic connection with Lulù Selassié. Although initially the latter relationship was criticized by the public, as Manuel and Lulù were very back-and-forth and at times toxic, the two managed to fix things up as they went on, declaring their love for each other.
On Day 134, after he had been considering it for a few weeks, Manuel made the decision to voluntarily leave the game, in order to go back to his family and get back to his regime of working out and practising for his Paralympic goals.
