He was best known for his friendship with Christmas Abbott, banging pots and pans through the house while singing circus music, calling people "meatballs", his loud Diary Room confessionals, and getting into arguments with several houseguests. At the first HoH competition, he took the golden apple, which granted him immunity for the week, because he believed he was a target. He then proceeded to lash out at Megan Lowder and call her a snake. He got into several heated arguments with Cody Nickson, Jessica Graf, Kevin Schlehuber, Elena Davies, and Mark Jansen. The altercations combined with his emotional outbursts made him a target early on, but he eventually got his foot in the door and started working with Paul Abrahamian and Christmas. For the most part, he was loyal to Paul and did what he wanted, but eventually, he realized Paul was making everyone else do his dirty work, and he saw how dominant Paul's game was. He then began using his goodbye messages to expose Paul's lies and, ultimately, thwarted his attempts to shift all blame onto him and Christmas. During the final weeks of the game, he contemplated turning on Paul several times, especially after winning the Final 5 HOH, but never actually did it. When he won the final HoH, he made a risky decision to take Paul to the final 2, believing that the jury disliked Paul more than either himself or Christmas. Despite his major altercations with others earlier on in the season, his strategy and risky decision paid off, and he was awarded the win in a 5-4 vote.

What do you think will be the most difficult part about living inside the Big Brother house?
The hardest part of living in the house will be being away from my family and not hearing from them. We are so close and my siblings are my best friends, so it will be really hard not having contact with them. However, they know that I'm living a dream and playing for them. Which past Big Brother cast member did you like most?
"Evel" Dick Donato from Season 8 is hands down my favorite Houseguest. He always spoke his mind, was an a-hole when he needed to be, didn't care what others thought of him, and, even though he didn't have a good relationship with his daughter, he always defended her, which is kind of the dynamic with my family. Overall he was himself, spoke his mind, and did not give a sh*t about being on anyone's good side. I see a lot of his gameplay in the way I'll play. Do you have a strategy for winning the game?
I have a huge strategy to playing the game and it's simple: lie, cheat, and manipulate. Lie and deceive all these meatballs (aka losers) into doing what I want as I win comps and make them think we're best friends. Also, find that one Houseguest I can completely trust and make it all the way to Final 2. My life's motto is… Play hard, work hard, and live your life the way you want. Always work for what you want, but enjoy your life and live life to the fullest. Never care about anyone's opinion, as long as you're living your life. What would you take into the house, and why?
- My cell phone because I could stay connected with the world
- My mom because she could cook and clean for me
- My brother or sister because we would raise hell together Fun facts about yourself:
- Crazy
- Adventurous
- Down for new experiences
- I'm an adrenaline junkie

He was one of Da'Vonne's "Ride or Die" partner options for the season but she ended up dropping from the season, so it is unknown who he would have ended up with. It was later revealed that production wanted him to compete alongside his sister Maytee Martinez, but he declined that option, wanting her to stay away from potential hate from fans.[11]
Josh competed on The Challenge: USA 2 alongside Paulie and Faysal representing the flagship MTV series, as well as Alyssa Lopez and Tiffany Mitchell returning from The Challenge: USA 1, and Tyler Crispen, Alyssa Snider, Ameerah Jones and Monte Taylor representing Big Brother as rookies. Josh appeared in the fifth episode of The Challenge: Home Turf, which focused primarily on his friend and fellow Challenger Tori Deal and her Challenge legacy.[12]
Josh confirmed that he was set to compete on Big Brother 22 (US), going through quarantine and sequester, but was ultimately cut at the last minute due to a false positive COVID-19 test. He later confirmed in a February 2021 interview that he did receive a positive test result two days before he was supposed to move into the house and was thus cut from the cast.[13] He was replaced by Memphis Garrett and went onto compete on The Challenge: Double Agents instead after fully healing.
