A House Player is special type of guest, an intruder who enters the house and disguises as an official, competing housemate and lives in the house with the real housemates. The twist is derived from the America's Player twist.

A House Player's sole reason for entering the house is to shake up the house by causing trouble and paranoia among the housemates and even bringing the housemates to their breaking point. In recent years, the house player's main task is to help Big Brother bring out the worst, the best, and hidden personalities of all housemates by disrupting the established social dynamics of the house and indirectly confronting them about the issues that the viewers may have observed on the housemates.

Typically, the House Players are given a series of secret tasks controlled and dictated by either the viewers or by Big Brother himself. They often receive prize money for every task that they would accomplish while inside the house.

Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus[]

The House Player twist first appeared in the series during Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus where teenagers Shy Carlos, Andi Eigenmann, and Mikan Ong entered the house and posed as new housemates to accomplish tasks controlled by the viewers. Two House Players Shy and Andi decided to quit being House Players for certain reasons and chose to leave the house.

House Player Paco Evangelista creates a heated confrontation against the housemates.

It returned on Pinoy Big Brother: Unlimited with the previously evicted Paco Evangelista re-entering the house for a sole reason, to cause trouble and bring the housemates to their breaking point. He later re-entered back to the game as a housemate and even reached the finale.

Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4[]

It was brought back for the third time in Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4, where two House Players who were related to two Teen Housemates were brought in the house to accomplish some tasks. Francis Boyce, the brother of housemate Ryan Boyce, together with Kim Balot, the girlfriend at that time of housemate Yves Flores entered the Big Brother House to stir up the house and bring up the controversies surrounding their relatives.

Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7[]

Teen Edition[]

The House Player twist made a short comeback during the Teen Edition of Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. Two Manila-based Brazilian models Maria and Stephanie entered the house on Week 12, posing as housemates from a teen edition of Big Brother Brazil sent to Pinoy Big Brother house to compete in a beauty pageant-themed immunity challenge and weekly task. While the housemates competed in the pageant for their weekly task, the house players convinced the teen housemates that they were competing for their safety in Teen Big Brother Brazil, and that losing the challenge would evict them. Unknown to the teen housemates, there was no Teen Big Brother Brazil, and the fake Brazilian housemates were actually models who have been residing in the Philippines for many years.

House Player Gabby Sarmiento sabotages the blindfolded housemates' Tower Building weekly task to test their patience.

During the "first batch" of Pinoy Big Brother Otso the twist was revealed on Week 6 where the Camp Star Hunt Star Dreamers who failed to cross over as official housemates in the Big Brother House were given a chance to become "House Players". Throughout their remaining weeks in the house, the Star Dreamers were given a series of House Player tasks which had a corresponding reward of ₱10,000 for every task they would accomplish that would be shared among them. Big Brother paired up with them to challenge the official housemates' morals and character, show their real personalities and test how they would act in such situations through the House Player Tasks. This is to help the viewers determine who among the teen housemates really deserved to be part of Batch 1's Big Four.

On Week 7 and Week 8, Out of the 8 Star Dreamers, Gabby Sarmiento and Sansan Dagumampan were eventually chosen by Big Brother to become "Ultimate House Players" where they moved to the Big Brother House and disguised themselves as Official Housemates. Unbeknownst to the official housemates, Big Brother connived with them by giving them some secret tasks to shake up the house. Their main goal was to challenge the remaining official housemates' character by causing trouble and bringing them to their breaking point to show their hidden personalities and how they would act in such situations. For every task that Gabby and Sansan would accomplish they would be receiving P10,000 as their reward.

Adult Edition[]

House players Jannene Nidoy and Marky Miranda secretly planning for their task.

During the Adults Edition of the four-part 10th season, Pinoy Big Brother launched a virtual competition in Kumu called PBB House Player Campaign where Kumu streamers, users, and Big Brother fans joined to become the edition's House Players. Two campaign winners, Social Media Influencer Jannene Nidoy and Theater Actor Marky Miranda were selected to become House Players.

The two house players entered the house on Week 20 with only one purpose, to bring out the best and worst sides of the remaining housemates' personalities by disrupting the harmonious relationship the housemates have built inside the house. Further, Big Brother introduced the two house players as housemates who could snatch the housemates' Final Five positions, creating more tension between the fake "late entrant" housemates and the remaining official housemates. The two house players had a clear strategy upon entering the house and created a persona different from their real-life personalities. Marky appeared to use the Loudmouth strategy and challenged the housemates' character by targeting everyone, confronting them about their respective issues that the viewers have said in social media. Jannene, on the other hand, had an Under the Radar technique by befriending the housemates to appear less threatening and to make the housemates believe they're real housemates, but at the same time filling in details to Marky about certain housemates and adding fuel to the tension that Marky often causes.

Pinoy Big Brother: Gen11[]

During the final four weeks of the show, Big Brother brought five evicted housemates returned to the house as "house challengers" to create conflict and chaos, serving as a test for the remaining housemates while also helping the public decide who deserves a spot in the Big Four. The house challengers included Therese Villamor, former two-in-one housemates Dingdong Bahan and Patrick Ramirez, Jas Dudley-Scales, and Jarren Garcia, who was evicted on Day 71 after receiving the fewest public votes during the 9th eviction night. Big Brother then offered Jarren the challenge of becoming a house challenger, which he immediately accepted. The housemates and house challengers faced a series of challenges that may or may not have an impact on who stays and who leaves the house, and those housemates who faced the challenges risked losing their housemate status to them.

Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition[]

During Week 15, Big Brother brought back all of the previously evicted contestants into the house as "Duo Challengers", where each challenger would vote for a final duo they believed was the most deserving to receive a Big Four slot. The final duo with the most votes from the Duo Challengers would automatically earn a spot in the Big Four. To determine their selection, the Duo Challengers would stay inside Big Brother's secret headquarters where they could secretly observe, criticize, analyze, and evaluate the remaining duos. Additionally, they could also create chaos and uncomfortable situations inside the house to challenge the remaining housemates' character and core values.
