The Big Winner is the title given to the housemate who has been awarded the victory of Pinoy Big Brother.
Criteria[]
There are no formal criteria for choosing a Big Winner. The only known eligibility requirement is to be part of the Big Four, and reach the Big Night.
Since there are no standard criteria for winning Pinoy Big Brother, the public may vote for who they want to win based on various reasons; who is the most genuine or stayed true to themselves while inside the house as per the show's concept, who stayed stronger out of the challenges given by Big Brother, who had the most character development throughout their stay in the house, who related to them the most, or all of the criteria mentioned, etc. This allows the viewers a chance to vote their winner based on their own standard of being the "best housemate".
However, the viewers are expected to elect a winner that has embodied the show's main motto, Pagpapakatotoo (Authenticity).
- Pagpapakatotoo or Authenticity is the psychological and main element of the show, where the housemates must be able to stay in their most authentic/real selves for over a hundred days inside the Big Brother House. As the show abides by the existentialist concept wherein each individual's actions must stay congruent with their beliefs, morals, and character despite external pressures, a Big Winner is expected to have the ability to stay true to their beliefs and their character while overcoming Big Brother's challenges that usually explores the mental, environmental, physical, and strategic pressures of the game.
Prize Package[]
The prize package of the Big Winner usually consists of a cash prize of ₱1,000,000 (or ₱2,000,000 during Unlimited, Otso, and Kumunity Season 10), a condo unit (a house and lot in earlier seasons), and an Asian tour package for two.
Throughout the years, the prize package received by winners of the previous seasons has varied. During the earlier seasons from 2005 to 2012, prizes such as a business showcase, a kitchen showcase, a Sony Bravia LCD TV, a scholarship program (applicable only for Teen Editions), and a brand new car had been part of the prize package given to the past Big Winners.
However, being part of the Big Four wouldn't make a contestant leave penniless.
- The Runner-Up or 2nd Big Placer as the show calls it, receives a check worth ₱500,000 and additional prizes.
- The 3rd Big Placer receives a check worth ₱300,000 and additional prizes.
- The 4th Big Placer receives a check worth ₱250,000 and additional prizes.
In some seasons with additional Big Placers, they receive a check of P100,000 and additional prizes.
Just reaching the Big Four would guarantee any housemate of a cash prize and their corresponding prize package that may vary from every season.

Grand Welcome[]
It has been a winning moment tradition in the Pinoy Big Brother's Big Night Finale to give the Big Winner a grand welcome to the outside world. The grand welcome has been one of the most anticipated segments of the Big Night as it presents the Big Winner in extravagant, over the top ways. In every season, the manner of welcoming the Big Winners to the outside world varies, most often in relation to the theme of the season's Big Night finale.

In the five-part Pinoy Big Brother: Otso, a twist was introduced where each part/batch crowned a Batch Big Winner, with a separate cash prize worth P100,000 and a secured slot in the season's Big Night finale. The Batch Big Winners, along with their respective Batch Big Four, competed against other batches during the Back to House part of the season in order to advance to the Big Night as well as gain advantages that could help determine their final placements in the Ultimate Big Night finale. Eventually, Batch 2 Winner, Yamyam Gucong emerged as the season's Ultimate Big Winner, making him the first Big Winner of the series to win twice within one season. The Batch Winner twist returned on Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 in the form of "Kumunity Top 2" Winners, where the Top 2 of Celebrity, Adult, and Teen Kumunities are named as the winners of their respective batches. The Top 2 Winners received P100,000 each and returned at the final phase of the season.

Pinoy Big Brother: 737[]
As part of the series' 10th Anniversary Celebrations, 11 Big Winners attended the Pinoy Big Ball event, joining the adult housemates in the house's activity area to celebrate the series' milestone. The Big Winners who attended the anniversary event were Nene Tamayo, Keanna Reeves, Beatriz Saw, Ruben Gonzaga, Slater Young, Myrtle Sarrosa, and Daniel Matsunaga. In addition, the Big Winners joined the season's housemates on a fundraising task called Big Mission, to raise P3,000,000 to be used for building houses for the homeless.
Pinoy Big Brother: Otso[]
During the live premiere of the season's first batch, 8 Big Winners namely Nene Tamayo, Keanna Reeves, Ruben Gonzaga, Ejay Falcon, Myrtle Sarrosa, Daniel Matsunaga, Jimboy Martin & Maymay Entrata were involved in choosing two of the first 8 official housemates on Batch 1's first Housemate Selections.
Furthermore, the season's Big Night commemorated alumni housemates and Big Winners all throughout the two-night event. Ultimately, Big Winners Nene Tamayo, Keanna Reeves, Ejay Falcon, Myrtle Sarrosa, Daniel Matsunaga, Jimboy Martin & co-host Melisa Cantiveros welcomed Yamyam Gucong on the stage as part of their exclusive group.

- Out of all Big Winners, 11 are of Visayan descent or at least speak a Visayan language as their first language; Nene Tamayo, Keanna Reeves, Kim Chiu, Ruben Gonzaga, Melisa Cantiveros, Slater Young, Myrtle Sarrosa, Maymay Entrata, Yamyam Gucong, and Liofer Pinatacan.

- At age 16, Kim Chiu is the first-ever Teen Big Winner, and currently holds the record of being the youngest winner of Pinoy Big Brother, and in the entire Big Brother history.
- Ruben Gonzaga is the first male to be a Big Winner and the first male celebrity to win the title.
- Slater Young is the first male civilian to become a Big Winner.
- Ejay Falcon is the first male Teen Big Winner.
- Daniel Matsunaga became the first housemate to win in a combined season and eventually the third celebrity to become a Big Winner
- Interestingly, Daniel is the first celebrity to win in a non-all-celebrity season.

Big Night[]
- Beatriz Saw who won Pinoy Big Brother 2 got 1,571,556 actual votes on the Big Night, the highest recorded number of actual SMS votes in the history of Pinoy Big Brother.
- Since Unlimited, there were no more actual votes shown during the announcements. Only the percentages of the total votes have been shown.
- Miho Nishida, Pinoy Big Brother: 737's Adult Big Winner, had a landslide win against Tommy Esguerra after having 81.96% of total votes, the highest recorded percentage of total votes a Big Winner has ever received in the history of Pinoy Big Brother.
- Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4, Pinoy Big Brother: All In, Pinoy Big Brother: Connect, and Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 used the Save-Evict Voting process for the Big Night.
- Daniel Matsunaga got the lowest amount of votes a Big Winner has received due to the result of the Save-Evict Voting process during the season's finale. Interestingly, it was Jane Oineza who gathered the highest amount of save votes, but at the same time received the highest amount of evict votes, drastically changing her place in the Big Night when both votes were tallied.
- Pinoy Big Brother: 737 had two Big Winners, one for the Teen Chapter of the series, and one for the Civilian Chapter. It was the first time in the history of Pinoy Big Brother that two Big Winners were announced in the Big Night.
Nominations[]
- Liofer Pinatacan is the first Big Winner who was never nominated to face the public for eviction throughout his season.
- Kim Chiu, Ejay Falcon, and Maymay Entrata were nominated only once throughout their season and it's due to open voting for the Big Four finalists, wherein all remaining housemates are nominated by default. If open voting nominations prior to Big Four were excluded, these winners would've had the record of never been nominated for eviction throughout their seasons.
- Anji Salvacion is currently the most nominated Big Winner after being nominated 6 times in her edition.
- Anji Salvacion is the Big Winner with most nomination points received, having a total of 25 nomination points.
- With having only 2 nomination points throughout her season, Kim Chiu currently holds the record as the Big Winner with the fewest nomination points received within a season of Pinoy Big Brother.
