Derek Dennis Frazier is the runner-up of Big Brother 23 (US).
The first night, Derek was drafted as a member of the Jokers team. And though the rest of the house went awry under the chaos of Frenchie French’s HOH reign, the Jokers were emboldened to stick together, even rallying behind Frenchie as he was targeted the very next week. Most pertinently, he became extremely tight with teammates Azah Awasum and Britini D'Angelo, forming a package deal in the game. At the same time, he and Azah became part of The Cookout, which focused on getting to the final six to guarantee a Black winner. And within the alliance, he had his heart set on the guys, making deals to go to the end with Xavier Prather and Kyland Young, despite their biggest status as threats.
Those first couple of weeks set the pace for the rest of Derek’s game. With no plus one spoken for as part of the “master plan,” he simply operated in service to the Cookout, even serving as a pawn for two weeks in a row. As the days ticked by, he began to grow more resentful and argumentative with the women of the Cookout. He and Tiffany Mitchell often butted heads, putting their alliance in jeopardy. And he was growing unhappy with Azah, even telling her to her face that he had “carried” her for the duration of the game. It got to a point where his own closest ally had decided to cut him at the end, as he talked down to her one time too many. Despite all this, Derek entered finale night thinking he had a decent shot at the money with a game he claimed was built on executing every plan he created. Unfortunately, the jury laughed at his responses, and he wound up losing to Xavier unanimously.

Post Big Brother[]
- Derek returned in Big Brother 24 (US) with the rest of The Cookout alliance to discuss the season during Week 11's eviction episode.
- Derek, Hannah and Tiffany launched The Royal Tea podcast on Heavy Crown Network, where they cover many genres of reality television, starting with Big Brother Canada 11.[2]
- Derek and Azah were interviewed for the Big Brother: 25th Anniversary Celebration ahead of Big Brother 25 (US).
MTV[]
- Derek was set to compete on The Challenge: Ride or Dies, but was ultimately dropped from the cast. Had he played, he would have competed alongside Faysal, Kaycee, Amber, Analyse, Tommy and Promi Big Brother 8 contestant Emmy Russ. He was Da'Vonne's primary "Ride or Die" partner option for the season, but she ended up dropping herself from the cast, causing him to be dropped as well.
Trivia[]
- Derek is the son of late professional boxer Joe Frazier.
- Derek is the first houseguest since Will Kirby in Big Brother 2 (US) to make it to the Final Two with zero competition wins.
- While Derek did well enough in the Veto Derby to participate in the subsequent High Roller Room betting twist, he did not win that competition, only managing to place second.
- Will won many food and luxury competitions, and won a part of his Final HOH competition, and the Power of Veto did not exist on his season, so Derek is the first person to reach the Final Two with zero competition wins of any kind.
- Derek is the sixth openly gay houseguest to make it to the final 2. He followed Ivette Corredero from Big Brother 6 (US), Andy Herren from Big Brother 15 (US), Jason Roy from Big Brother: Over The Top, Ross Mathews from Celebrity Big Brother 1 (US), and Kaycee Clark from Big Brother 20 (US).
- Derek is the sixth (as well as second consecutive Big Brother U.S.) runner-up to receive no jury votes to win the game, following: Memphis Garrett in Big Brother 10; Karen Singbeil in Big Brother Canada 5; Ricky Williams in Celebrity Big Brother 2; Anthony Douglas in Big Brother Canada 7; and Enzo Palumbo in Big Brother 22.
- Derek is the first Black man to be a runner up in a main series season of Big Brother U.S.
