Competitions, or Challenges in most versions, are have been a very important part of Big Brother's gameplay ever since the show began. The winner of the competition or the group will receive the power of special privileges for the week.

These competitions or challenges have a variety of uses throughout the show, ranging from weekly shopping tasks to eviction challenges. There are many different types of competitions, listed below.

Note: The Coup d'Etat and the Diamond Power of Veto reappeared on Big Brother 11 and Big Brother 12 respectively, however, the houseguests on both seasons didn't compete for neither of the two. Instead, they were given out by America's Vote and Pandora's Box respectively.

Note:

A similar version of Coup d'Etat appeared on Big Brother Canada 3, however, the houseguests on that season didn't compete for the power. Instead, they were given out by Canada's Vote.

The Canadian version of the Boomerang Power of Veto was named as the Double Power of Veto, not to be confused with the American version of the Double Power of Veto

Trivia[]

In U.S. and Canada versions of the show, they are called "Competitions", with a nickname called comp. On the other hand, versions such as Big Brother Australia and Pinoy Big Brother call it Challenges.
