Big Brother Célébrités: Champions vs. Recrues is the fifth season of Celebrity Big Brother in Canada.

Background

After the success of the previous edition, Bell Media confirmed during on March 31, 2024 that another season of the show would air in the winter of 2025. Shortly afterwards, it was also revealed that both returning players and new players would compete against each other this season.

Twists

• Returning Players: For the first time in Big Brother Célébrités history, eight past housemates returned for another shot at the game, competing against eight brand new players.
• Co-HOHs: During Week 1, the Head of Household competition was played in pairs, with the winning pair becoming Co-HOHs. The two HOHs had to agree to nominate two people together. If a consensus was not reached, the two HOHs would instead become the two nominees.
• Hidden Votes: Starting this season, during evictions, the vote count was not revealed to the housemates.
• The Storm: Every week, there were tasks that could cause one housemate to either to lose their vote or gain an additional one.
• Chain of Safety: On Day 15, there was a Double Eviction. However, unlike normal double evictions, the evictee was determined by a "Chain of Safety" selection process. Beginning with the winner of the immunity challenge, each housemate had to select another housemate to save until one person was left unselected, who would then become nominated. This was followed by a second safety chain, with the second housemate left unselected also being nominated. The two nominees had to compete against each other in a head-to-head duel to determine who was eliminated. The winner of the duel received immunity for the following week.
• Temple of Crystals: This season, contestants attempted to collect crystals throughout the game. Once they acquired both a blue and red crystal, they had the opportunity to enter the temple, where they could either reward or punish another player.
  • The Bloc: This power grants the holder the ability to veto one nominee from eviction or grants the holder the ability to add a third nominee.
  • The Challenge: This power grants the holder the ability to either give someone a second chance in one of the competitions or to block them from playing in a competition.
  • The Fate: This power grants the holder the ability to either give immunity to a housemate or nominate someone for the entirety of the following week.
  • The Head of Household: This power grants the holder the ability to either extend the powers of the HOH for another week or to strip the HOH of their powers.
• Split House Double Eviction: During Week 5, two Heads of Household were crowned, and afterwards, the house was split into two groups. One group would live in the main house while the other group would live in "The Camp." The two groups were not able to communicate or see each other throughout the entire week. Additionally, they participated in separate nominations and separate Power of Veto competitions. At the end of the week, two housemates were evicted as opposed to the usual one.
• Re-Entry Competition: Similar to Celebrity Big Brother Quebec 1, during Weeks 6 and 7, the evictee had the opportunity to compete in a challenge. If they successfully did so, they would re-enter the game as a housemate and receive immunity for the following week. However, if they lost, they would be permanently evicted.
• Invisible Week: Week 9 was the "invisible week", featuring an Invisible HOH, Invisible Veto, and Invisible Storm:
  • Invisible HOH: The HOH was invisible, meaning that no one else knew who was HOH except for that person. Since no one knew who the HOH was, they could only compete in the Veto competition if they were picked and they were allowed to compete in the following HOH competition, but still could not cast an eviction vote that week.
  • Invisible Veto: The Veto Holder was also invisible, meaning that no one else knew who was the Veto Holder except for the winner, but they were allowed to tell people if they wanted to do so. Since no one knew who the Veto Holder was, they anonymously made their decision.
  • Invisible Storm: The person who gained or lost a vote was also invisible.
• Champions: In the last 3 weeks of the game, the format was completely revamped.
  • Block Challenges: Instead of the Head of Household deciding the two nominees, the housemates played in two Block Challenges. The housemate who finished in last would be automatically nominated.
  • Diamond Power of Veto: Instead of playing in the Golden Power of Veto competition, the housemates compete for the Diamond Power of Veto. The holder would have the power to save one of the nominees and determine the replacement themselves.
  • No Final 3: During the Final 4, the two nominees that end up on the block at the end of the week were instantly evicted. The Diamond Power of Veto holder and one person of their choosing would both be in the finale.
