Celebrity Big Brother 1 (UK) was the inaugural version of Celebrity Big Brother. Like the regular version of Big Brother (UK), the show featured a number of strangers living in a house together in complete isolation, having to nominate each other for eviction with the public voting on who to evict. Unlike the regular version of the show, however, the six housemates living together were notable celebrities, with the prize money going to charity rather than to themselves. This season, all money raised was given to Comic Relief, with the season finale being held on Red Nose Day 2001.
About[]
Retrieved from Comic Relief
Celebrity Big Brother is the result of an incredible alliance between Comic Relief, Channel 4, BBC and Bazal (part of Endemol Entertainment UK) to raise money for Red Nose Day 2001, on 16th March. The week-long TV special will be made by Endemol and, uniquely, programmes will be broadcast on both Channel 4 and BBC ONE.
The six celebrity housemates taking part in this special version of Big Brother will not receive fees of any kind and money raised from the voting lines will go to Comic Relief, as will the format fee for Endemol.
The celebrities entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on Friday 9th March, and the final eviction will take place as part of BBC ONE's Red Nose Day on Friday 16th March.
Conditions inside the house will be comfortable but basic, with simple food supplied and a small additional budget. As in Big Brother, the stars will be required to complete tasks, but this time the tasks will be daily.[1]
Twists[]
- Live Nominations: Each housemate was required to make their nominations live during the launch episode, moments after meeting each other. The first eviction would be held the day after, on Day 2.
