Bigg Boss 10 is the tenth season of Bigg Boss (Hindi).

Background

Development

On the finale night of Bigg Boss 9 (Hindi), the season was announced and it was confirmed that the season will be open to civilians. In February 2016, it was announced that Salman Khan will be hosting the season. The first promo was released on August 27, 2016.

House

The house pictures were revealed on October 14, 2016 by host Salman Khan on Twitter.

The house is themed to appear as a modern Indian palace with elements of mystique that invoke sentiments like vigour and positivity. The bedroom area features not only seven single beds, but also a massive bed. 7 contestants will take the single bed and the remaining will have to share a massive bed which has been placed against a wall. A first-time addition is a walk-in closet adorned with full-length mirrors to ensure that the contestants look their absolute best at all times. The seat of the confession room is a classic emulation of a King’s Throne covered in deep and glittery gold. With the walls covered in deep red, and rustic lamps suspended from the ceiling. The jail is splattered with gruesome material and promises to be as good as hell. Located in a corner in the garden area, the jail has two Iron Beds with dusty bedding. Aluminium utensils, an earthen water pot and an Indian-style washroom. The newest addition to the bathroom area this season, is a luxurious Jacuzzi placed in a corner which allows everyone a full view of the entire room. A pristine white Jacuzzi in a royal purple washroom adorned with Peacock graphics. The kitchen is the ultimate epitome of class and style. Its earthy tones and country design will bring a touch of home to this otherwise royal home. And this is extended to the dining table where a large curved table is set. All these elements are supported by the garden area which features a swimming pool, gym area and a specially-created Appy Fizz zone for the contestants to take a break from the daily tasks, making their Bigg Boss journey more enjoyable.

The eye logo was revealed in April 2016 after the makers released the teaser. It features different colours of blue, green, pink, yellow and purple around the overall and the pupil as well. It also uses white around the edges of the eye.

Casting

The season revealed that civilians will have to audition by uploading a video and sending it to Colors. They will also have to fill out a form to be selected to appear in the season. Celebrities will be offered and approached by the makers of the show like before.

On September 19, 2016, Bani Judge became the first confirmed contestant. The celebrities and civilians list was revealed on October 15, 2016.

• Fake Eviction: On Day 21, Swami Om was fake evicted and was later kept in a secret room for one week. On Day 56, Priyanka Jagga was also fake evicted and was sent in the secret room where Manu Punjabi re-entered.

On Day 1, seven celebrities and eight civilians entered the house. Celebrities had to mutual decide two housemates they would like to nominate. They chose to nominate Manu and Priyanka. Civilians were sent to the confession room to nominate two housemates one by one. On Day 7, Priyanka was evicted.

On Day 8, celebrities had to nominate two civilians and same had to be for the opposite team. On Day 14, Akanksha was evicted.

On Day 15, housemates had to nominate two for eviction. Navin was already immune for winning a task. Bani, Lopamudra, Manu, Manveer, Monalisa, Nitibha and Swami Om were nominated for eviction. On Day 21, the new twist was revealed where it was said that Swami Om was evicted by he was kept in a secret room hence there was no eviction.

A telephone and chair was set up in the garden area. Whoever will pick up the telephone would be nominated. To save themselves from nomination they had to do task by other housemate. Lopamudra and Nitibha were already immune. Lokesh had nominated herself in order to save another housemate. Manveer, Navin and Rahul were nominated as they failed to save themselves while Bani, Gaurav, Karan, Manu, Monalisa and Rohan were saved. On Day 28, Navin was evicted.

On Day 29, all housemates had to mutual decide four they would like to nominate directly for eviction. Captain Bani was ineligible to vote. The nominated housemates were Karan with maximum nine votes, Rahul with eight votes, Lokesh with seven votes and Monalisa with six votes. On Day 34, a twist was revealed that there will be a double eviction. Karan was the first one evicted and the following Day 35, Lokesh was evicted.

On Day 36, Bigg Boss introduced a task where housemates had to create a 3 minutes entertaining, sensational video matching the set up provided by Bigg Boss. These videos were being judged by Bigg Boss 5 (Hindi) former housemate Sunny Leone who came as a guest. The team consisting Lopamudra, Manu, Monalisa, Rohan and Swami Om won the task and was immune. Bani, Gaurav, Manveer, Nitibha and Rahul were nominated for eviction. On Day 42, it was announced there was no eviction as Priyanka Jagga re-entered the house with new entrants Elena Kazan, Jason Shah and Sahil Anand.

On Day 43, it was announced the the new entrants Priyanka, Elena, Jason and Sahil will compete with the nominated housemates that they will choose. Manveer were immune as the new entrants did not choose their names. Bani, Elena, Jason and Rahul were nominated while Priyanka, Sahil, Gaurav and Nitibha were saved. On Day 49, Elena was evicted. Also Swami Om walked out of the house due to personal issues.

On Day 50, Manu walked out of the house due to personal issues in his family. Swami Om re-entered the show on Day 51. Captain Gaurav was asked to nominate three housemates. The nominated housemates were Priyanka with maximum seven votes, Sahil with six votes, Bani with five votes and Lopamudra, Manveer, Nitibha and Rohan with two votes each. On Day 54, Jason walked out of the show due to medical issues. On Day 55, it was announced that Priyanka and Sahil was evicted. Later it was only Sahil who left while Priyanka entered the secret room.

On Day 57, housemates were assigned a nomination task. Bani, Lopamudra, Manveer, Nitibha and Rahul were nominated. Manu re-entered the show on Day 59 and was kept in secret room along with Priyanka. On Day 63, Rahul was evicted.

On Day 64, captain Lopamudra was asked to nominate one housemate directly and she chose Bani. Swami Om was immune therefore no housemate to nominate him. All housemates were asked to nominate two other. The other two nominated housemates were Monalisa with maximum six votes and Gaurav with four votes. On Day 69, Priyanka was ejected from the house after her disrespectful behaviour. Due to this the eviction process was cancelled but was carried forward with voting lines cloesed for the following week.

On Day 70, the voting lines were closed and the nominated housemates Bani, Gaurav and Monalisa were nominated again for this week's eviction. On Day 78, Gaurav was evicted.

Housemates were paired up and called to the confession room. In which, they had to mutually decide which one of them to be nominated. If they don't come to a decision, both of them will get nominated. Bani, Lopamudra, Nitibha, Rohan and Swami Om were nominated. On Day 78, Swami Om walked out of the house again due to personal issues but re-entered a day later. On Day 81, Swami Om was ejected from the house due to his disgusting act towards fellow housemates Bani and Rohan. Due to his ejection, the eviction was postponed for the following week.

On Day 85, there were no nominations due to twelfth week eviction being postponed after Swami Om's ejection. Bani, Lopamudra, Nitibha and Rohan were nominated again. On Day 91, Nitibha was evicted.

On Day 92, a nomination task was set up for the housemates. Monalisa and Rohan were nominated as they failed to save themselves. On Day 98, Monalisa was evicted.

In the final nominations, Bani and Rohan were nominated for failing the immunity task as Monalisa, who was also a part of the team got evicted. Public had to vote to save one from both of the nominated housemates. On Day 102, Rohan became the last housemate to be evicted leaving Bani, Lopamudra, Manu and Manveer as the season's finalists.

On Day 105, after seeing their journeys, the finalists got ready for the grand finale. Manu was the first one to leave the house where he decided to walk with a bag of money. Lopamudra was the next one to leave the house finishing off at third place. The final two Bani and Manveer left to enter the stage for the final results. Manveer was declared as the winner of the season.

Controversies

Through their time in the house, housemates will do or say things that are not acceptable to the rules that were explained to them before they entered the house. If an action is deemed too offensive to the viewing public, a housemate can be ejected or given a warning by the producers of the show. The following housemates were involved in a breach of the rules and were either given a warning or ejection by the Bigg Boss producers.

Priyanka Jagga

Priyanka Jagga, a controversial housemate.

Priyanka Jagga was one housemate as such that created many controversies since she entered at the beginning. During the tenth week, Priyanka misbehaved with co-housemates Monalisa Biswas, Bani Judge and Lopamudra Raut. On the weekend, when Salman Khan tried to reason with her, she kept disrespecting him and later bit fight erupted. Priyanka was later removed on Day 69 by Salman.

A controversy erupted when Rohan Mehra had got aggressive and slapped Swami Om. Swami later demanded Bigg Boss to throw Rohan out but instead Rohan wss nominated for the entire season. Viewers was disappointed with the decision and supported Rohan as they felt Swami was wrong and provoked Rohan.

Swami Om was another housemate who made numerous controversies during his stay inside the house. He left everyone shocked when he flirted with Monalisa Biswas and Lopamudra Raut which made them uncomfortable. During the twelfth week, during the captaincy task, Swami threw his urine on co-housemates Bani and Rohan who later lost their cool and started to kick Swami. Later he was removed from the house due to this behaviour.

Post his ejection, Swami attacked Salman Khan and Bigg Boss. He also said he will sabotage the finale if he is not invited. He said "I will break the 'Bigg Boss' house and set it on fire."

During the call centre task in the twelfth week, a fight between Bani Judge and Lopamudra Raut erupted. It was Bani's turn to be the caller while Lopamudra was the customer. Lopa makes remarks that Bani uses her mother as a weapon to gain sympathy from everyone. After this Bani lost her cool and they both started to physical fight each other.
