Big Brother Malta 1 is the first season of Big Brother Malta.

Background

Following the success of Big Brother internationally, TVM announced on June 24, 2024 that applications for the first Maltese edition of the show were opened.

Twists

• Save and Replace: During Weeks 4 and 5, the HOH(s) had the opportunity to save a nominee of their choice from eviction. However, as a result, they had to name a replacement nominee.
  • During Weeks 7, 8, and 9, the HOH had the opportunity only to save a nominee, not to name a replacement.
• Freeze & Release: At various points in the season, when an alarm would ring, the housemates were required to stay frozen, as a contestant's loved one entered the house. The housemates are unable to move until instructed by Big Brother to do so. If they move beforehand, they would receive a punishment.
• Face to Face Nominations: During Week 6, nominations occurred face-to-face.
• Red Phone: Every time the Red Phone rings, the contestants have the option to answer it, where they would either receive a reward or a punishment.
• Public Nominations: During Weeks 8 and 10, the public had the power to vote for some of the housemates to be nominated. Immune contestants were not allowed to be nominated by their fellow housemates, but could be nominated by the viewers' votes.
• Previously Evicted Contestant: Starting on Day 57, the public had 72 hours to vote for two previously evicted contestants to re-enter the game as housemates.
