Anthea Turner was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother 1 (UK).
Biography[]
Anthea began her broadcasting career in BBC local radio presenting road traffic reports. Her debut on national television was with the BBC on But First This, followed by the Saturday morning show Up2U. She then spent 3 years as a regular presenter of Top of the Pops. Her first adult TV show was Best of Magic, which she co-hosted with Simon Mayo.
In September 1992 Anthea became the 19th presenter of Blue Peter, where she launched the most successful 'make' in the history of Blue Peter with in excess of 100,000 viewers writing in for details on Tracy Island.
June 1994 saw her slipping onto the GMTV sofa alongside Eamonn Holmes where she anchored the 7.00am - 9.00am time slot 5 days a week. BBC 1's National Lottery Live programme came next, which she continued to present until April 1996.
With her last GMTV in December 1996, Anthea went on to present Pet Power; followed by Turner Round The World and a new series of Wish You Were Here. In March 1998 she began presenting The National Lottery Big Ticket Show with Patrick Kielty for a 16 week series.
Teaming up with her sister in July 2000 Anthea co-hosted Your Kids Are In Charge and in October 2000 she released her autobiography Fools Rush In.
In her spare time Anthea's been bringing out a few videos including the Y Plan Fitness Videos (selling more than 1 million), Body Basics and Tone, Lift & Condition.[1]
